Marilyn McDonald is the owner of The Igloo Ice Cream Shop, located in Silver Lake, Indiana. Marilyn opened The Igloo back in 2015 after opening the Subway sandwich shop in Silver Lake in 2012. She has a passion for starting things from the ground up and loves bringing smiles to the faces of her customers. At The Igloo they serve over 40 flavors of ice cream along with milkshakes, sundaes, and avalanches.
Marilyn has been married to her wonderful husband for 41 years and is the mother of twin boys. She finds joy in making a positive impact on her community and the young adults that work for her. When she’s not managing her two businesses, you can find Marilyn enjoying time with her friends, bike riding, and spending time with her beloved family.
When asked to share a piece of advice with women who are looking to start their own business, Marilyn said,
“Stay strong and don’t be afraid to ask for advice. Join the Chamber of Commerce and create a support system with your family and friends.”
