Marlene Betances

Marlene Mulero-Betances is the owner and creator of EnPak, a medical device operations support service in Warsaw, Indiana. EnPak works alongside the orthopedic companies in Kosciusko County to package, label, and ship out high-quality medical equipment.

Marlene is of Puerto Rican descent and grew up in New York City. In 1999, Marlene, her husband, and her daughter moved to Warsaw, Indiana and she began working at DePuy Orthopedics. In 2011, Marlene and a few of her coworkers at DePuy decided to fill a need in the orthopedics world and started EnPak in 2011.

“I have been in orthopedics for most of my career and enjoy the industry,” says, Marlene. “I love the community and have really enjoyed volunteering for several organizations over the years.”

Marlene shares that her passion for EnPak is driven by her desire to give back to the community that she, her husband Robert, and her two children, Victoria and Ethan, call home. Her goal is to cultivate an atmosphere in her company where her team feels valued and where they can all be proud of their role in improving peoples’ lives.

When asked if she had any advice for other women looking to start their own business, Marlene said,

“First, start your business as a side hustle to minimize your financial risk, that way you can confirm that this is really what you want to do. Then, acknowledge that you’re amazing, but you’re not Superwoman, and you don’t need to be – don’t be afraid to ask for help. And finally, choose your business partner(s) carefully; as carefully as you would choose a spouse.”
