Fallen Tree

Maybe it stormed, or perhaps it was just a wild and windy day, but suddenly, you glance out the window to find a massive tree lying in your front yard that doesn’t belong to you! You don’t want to be a #rude or high #maintenance neighbor, but you definitely don’t want a stray tree taking up space in your yard and causing further damage! So, what are you supposed to do?!

First, don’t #PANIC, take a deep #breath, pick up the #phone and call your local insurance agent!

Typically, the general #rule of thumb is that the insurance policy for the property that was damaged will pay for the loss. So, if a neighbor’s tree ends up in your yard, your homeowner’s policy will cover the damage.

Keep in mind, if you want to avoid filing a homeowner’s claim, try #communicating with your #neighbor! See if there is a #deal that can be worked out between the two of you to repair the damages done so you can skip the hassle of filing a #claim.

Here’s a terrific tip if you want to avoid this type of situation in the future: get a yearly inspection done on your property and trim back any overgrown trees that might cause future damage.
