Mail Order

Have you ever heard the term “mail order” but aren’t quite sure what it is or if you’d benefit from it? In layman’s terms, mail order is a program through your insurance company where your carrier’s pharmacy will mail certain prescriptions right to your doorstep. This saves you a trip to the pharmacy and gives you the convenience of having your prescriptions re-filled and delivered right on time.

If you’re still debating whether this is for you, here are 3 things to consider about mail order:

  1. Your doctor is the one who sends in your prescription to your mail order company. You can’t just call the insurance company and request your medications be sent through mail order over the phone.
  2. If you elect mail order, your prescriptions will come in bulk! Typically, they are sent in 90-day, or 3-month, supplies.
  3. When your mail order prescriptions are mailed out every 3 months, the company will auto charge your account or the credit card on file. So just make sure to use a credit card that you are comfortable with being charged automatically!
