Shots are NOT fun for anyone, especially when it’s your little one! It can be agonizing watching your child squirm and scream when it comes to vaccines. In an effort to taper your anxiety and maximize your kiddo’s immunization experience while minimizing your out-of-pocket dollar, here are a few things you can do:
- If you’re taking your child to get their annual immunizations, make sure you go to their primary care doctor so they can run them through your insurance. If you go through an outside vendor like a pharmacy or local clinic, it will probably not run through your insurance.
- For those who have copay plans, ask your provider prior to the appointment if they are going to charge you for an office visit/office visit copay for immunizations. Sometimes, doctors will charge you for the visit with an additional immunization charge.
Bottomline: be prepared.
Always speak to your insurance company and your doctor before you take your kiddo in for their appointment so you know what to expect!
